Poha Bataka

Poha bataka is such a quick and satisfying meal or snack to make with simple ingredients!

Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 2 cups dried poha (medium thickness poha)

  • ½ small onion

  • 2 large potatoes, finely diced

  • ½ tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 jalapeno, finely diced (optional)

  • 1 tsp minced green chilies

  • 1 tsp minced garlic

  • 3 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp sugar

Directions:

  1. Soak poha is a large bowl with cold water for 2-3 minutes

  2. Strain the water from the poha and set aside

  3. Heat large pan on medium heat and add 2 tbsp of oil

  4. Add mustard seeds, turmeric, onions and cook for 2 minutes

  5. Add diced potatoes and salt and cook for 7-9 minutes, stirring occasionally. If needed add a splash of water.

  6. Add diced jalapeno, green chilies and garlic and cook for 2 minutes

  7. Add poha, lemon juice and sugar and toss to mix evely

  8. Cook on low for 3-5 minutes

  9. Optional: garnish with cilantro

  10. Enjoy!
