Salsa Macha

This salsa macha is like a Mexican chili oil that is so spicy and flavorful and addicting - it goes great on everything!

Servings: ¾ cup

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup olive oil

  • 2 dried chiles de ancho (dried poblano)

  • 20 dried chiles de arbol (dried red chilies)

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 corn tortilla

Directions:

1. Bake corn tortilla at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy

2. Heat a pot on medium heat and add olive oil

3. To a heat safe bowl add chilies and garlic

4. Once olive oil starts smoking remove from heat and add to the bowl with chilies and garlic

5. Mix quickly to ensure the chilies and garlic get cooked by the hot oil but make sure the chilies don’t burn (this will make it taste bitter)

6. Add the chilies, garlic and olive oil to a blender

7. Break the corn tortilla into pieces and add it to the blender

8. Blend until you reach desired consistency (i like it a little chunky)

9. Enjoy!
